Omega Seamaster | Cermet aka Black Tulip

€0.00
SOLD

Size: 26x28 mm

Movement:  cal.: 1380

Material: Cermet

Reference: 1960249

Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Year: 1982

Condition: NOS, new old stock.

Included: Watch only.

My Perspective: Born in the highly competitive, innovate or die environment of the Quartz Crisis. The watch is years ahead of its time as the case and bracelet is made from cermet - a composite material composed of ceramic and metal that shows a hardness of 2000 on the Vickers scale, the only harder, natural material being diamonds. So she looks exactly as sharp as she did 40+ years ago.

The model was difficult and costly to produce. They were only made upon request and priced 1375£, five times the price of the Speedmaster at 295£ in 1982

This perticular example is the smaller 26x28mm version. It is estimated that in total only 700 to 800 pieces were made although much information is available about this series, not even from Omega itself.

Shipping: Watch is located in European Union. Buyer is responsible for duties and taxes for watches shipped internationally. Read more about our shipping and packaging here
